The polyester fabric around a stretchy rubber centre. Each spool contains a continuous length of 20 metres with a thickness of 0.6mm.
Shirring is a technique where multiple parallel rows of elastic are machine stitched alongside standard thread to create a gathered appearance.
Best used with lightweight fabrics to create additional stretch and texture.
Use to create smock dresses, puff sleeves, skirt waistbands, shirt/blouse hems, bandeau tops and bodices.
Use in the bobbin of your sewing machine for smocking effect but can also be used in household crafts.
Ideal for chin straps on party hats or when creating hangable Christmas decorations. -
